JL Audio has patented technology in their W7 series Subwoofers which include:
Dynamic Motor Analysis – DMA Optimized Motor
This is a suite of modeling systems that are geared toward different issues that arise with speaker motor linearity.
According to JL Audio, helping to fix these motor linearity issues substantially reduces distortion creating a tighter, cleaner bass output.
The W-cone is JL’s design for an optimized cone. It helps to create better “stiffness” all while using less material. The W shape also helps with torsional rigidity which in turn keeps the voice coil aligned.
Elevated Frame Cooling
The design for the cooling using an elevated frame helps get cool air straight to the voice coil through holes directly above. According to JL Audio, this helps enhance both sound quality and power handling.
This is simple a specific design of the subwoofer where they utilize more space that is otherwise lost with conventional competition subwoofers.
This helps create more space for the cone to fully function.
