The Pioneer TS-A1375R is one of the best 5.25 speakers on the market, all things considered. Most importantly, these speakers are very well-engineered and are reasonably priced.

These 3-way speakers feature multi-layer mica matrix cone woofers that are very sensitive and keep their rigidity even when the volume’s turned up, keeping distortion to a minimum so your bass sounds punchy and clean. The multi-layer mica matrix cone design allows for optimum sound reproduction and responsiveness. Each woofer gets paired up with a mid-range and a tweeter to add warmth and clarity to your music.

The TS-A1375R speakers are rated for 50 watts on continuous basis, and have a sensitivity rating of 89 dB. That said, they’ll sound great running off your factory stereo, but they’ll really shine when driven by an aftermarket receiver or an external amp.

The R1525X2 is one of Rockford Fosgate’s best 5.25 car speakers. These 2-way speakers can handle up to 40 watts RMS and are rated for a sensitivity rating of 88 dB. They feature stiff Vacuum Polypropylene cones supported by heavy duty rubber surround for deep bass and maximum stability. Polk Audio dB line of speakers are very well-engineered. They are made with high quality materials that can withstand the challenges that outdoor environments present such as water, moisture, heat, high temperature and relentless exposure to the sun.

Polk Audio DB521 speakers feature 5-1/4″ woofers made from a polymer/mica composite and durable rubber surrounds to absorb cone resonance – for lower distortion, more natural mid-range sound reproduction. These speakers are equipped with liquid-cooled 3/4″ silk/polymer dome tweeters that use powerful Neodymium magnets to deliver precise high-frequency reproduction. You can swivel these tweeters and aim them at your ears for enhanced stereo imaging. Their 2-way design recreates well-articulated sound, dedicating the highs to the PEI domed tweeters while sending the mids and lows to the 5-1/4″ polypropylene made woofers.

The GTO529 Premium 5.25 speakers are very well-conceived. They’re designed and built from the ground up with quality in mind. These speakers feature JBL’s unique plus one woofer cone design, which is a simple technique used to expand the diaphragm area of the cone for improved low-frequency response. Their edge-driven soft dome tweeters provide bright highs with greater clarity. These tweeter’s UniPivot™ design allows you to pivot and adjust the tweeters to broadcast towards your ears for a better, detailed stereo imaging. Additionally, you can use the adjustable level control to tweak the tweeters output level; choose between 0 (flat) and +3 dB to compensate for off-axis mounting positions or road noise.

The JBL GTO529 speakers can handle up to 45 RMS and have a sensitivity rating of 92 dB. This means these speakers will sound great running off even the weakest factory installed head unit, let alone an aftermarket head unit.

If I had to pick some criticisms for the GTO529, it would be its relatively narrow frequency range. While most 5.25 car speakers we listed here can hit as low as 45 Hz, the JBL GTO529 Premium speakers are stuck at only 67 Hz.
