Reviews of the 5 Best 3.5 Car Speakers

Pioneer TS-A878 3.5 Inch Speakers Review

Pioneer TS-A878 3.5 inch speakers reviewWe are quite enamored with this brand. We’ve reviewed tons of their products including stereos, speakers and amps …etc. Pioneer have been in business for quite a long time, they have mastered it all.

Pioneer car speakers are mid-range car speakers. They are pretty popular on today’s market. Pioneer A series speakers seem to be well-liked. They are some of the best-selling car speakers on the market, and that’s no coincidence. They are very well-engineered, and most importantly, they are reasonably priced.

Pioneer’s TS-A878 2-way speakers are an excellent replacement for your factory 3.5 inch speakers. They are rated for a sensitivity of 88 dB, and a frequency response of 60-28,000 Hz, which is the widest frequency range among all 3.5 speakers we’ve come across. Pioneer TS-A878 speakers can handle 15 watts of power on continuous basis, so no external amps is required.

These speakers are incredibly efficient, clean, and project extremely well. They deliver a surprisingly decent sound experience, especially considering the price. They have good mids and highs, but obviously not much bass. Don’t get us wrong, they do produce some decent bass tones but it’s not enough to stand alone.

As for cons, it’s really difficult to think of any. If anything, I’d say that the slight protrusion of the tweeters on these speakers could pose a problem particularly if you have very tight enclosures.

JBL GTO329 Premium 3.5 Inch Speakers Review

JBL GTO329 Premium 3.5 Inch speakers reviewJBL is another recognized brand in the car audio industry, with over 60 years of experience under their belt. Their primary products are loudspeakers and associated electronics. They produce some of the best car speakers on the market.

JBL GTO series Hi-Fi speakers are the ideal upgrade for serious audio enthusiasts who are looking for speakers that can make a night and day difference in terms of sound quality. This innovative line of speakers is designed from the ground up with quality in mind. They are built to last.

JBL GTO329 speakers feature Plus One woofer cone design, which expands the diaphragm area of the cone. In other words, these speakers have larger carbon-injected woofer cones than that in competing models of the same size, which allow for an enhanced low-frequency response. The carbon material is light, yet stiff enough to allow the speakers to perform quite well with rapid cone movement.

Additionally, The edge-driven silk balanced dome tweeter ensure a rich experience in the upper frequencies, defined by smooth, fatigue free highs.

JBL GTO329 speakers have a high sensitivity rating of 91 dB, and that’s what we love most about these speakers. It simply means they will play loud even with moderate power.

JBL GTO329 Specifications
  • Size : 3 1/2
  • Sensitivity : 91 dB
  • Power Handling
    • RMS  :  25 Watts
    • Peak :  75 Watts

Polk Audio DB351 3.5-Inch Speakers Review

Polk Audio DB351 3.5 inch speakers reviewWe have reviewed a ton of Polk Audio on this site before, and the story hasn’t changed. Polk Audio produces a quality product for a great price. They have some really nice crisp, and clear sounding speakers.

These 3.5 inch speakers are incredibly versatile. They feature a multi-hole mounting pattern and shallow depth which make for easy drop-in installations in practically any car on the road. These speakers are also marine certified, which makes them perfect for use in boats of all types.

All Polk Audio dB series speakers are marine certified, meaning they can be splashed, rained on or hosed down (not fully submerged). They are also UV resistant so they will not fall apart with long exposure to the sun.

Polk Audio DB351 speakers feature 3-1/2″ woofers made from a polymer/mica composite and durable rubber surrounds for increased bass output and higher efficiency. They also feature 12mm liquid-cooled silk/polymer composite dome tweeters with neodymium magnets for crystal clear sound.

In terms of sound quality, the DB351 speakers put out well-balanced sound with no distortion. They also have nice bass response too, despite their relatively narrow frequency response. Bear in mind that these speakers might sound a bit fuzzy for the first few days, then they’ll become clear and loud.

  • Sensitivity : 85 dB
  • Power Handling
    • RMS  :  20 Watts

Rockford Fosgate Punch P132 3.5-Inch Speakers Review

Rockford Fosgate Punch P132 speakers reviewThe P132 is a 3.50″ 2-way full-range speaker rated at 20 watts RMS. We would recommend these speakers for basically anybody who is looking for brand-name quality factory replacement speakers.

Despite their small size and narrow frequency response, the P132 speakers pump out a decent amount of bass (we highly recommend using bass blockers to protect these speakers from bass distortion). The mids and highs are exceptionally clear. The P132 feature responsive polypropylene injected moulded cones and butyl rubber surrounds that’ll stand up to hours of excessive use and loudness.

Rockford Fosgate Punch P132 Specifications
  • Size : 3 1/2
  • Sensitivity : 85 dB
  • Power Handling
    • RMS  :  20 Watts

Kenwood KFC-835C Speakers Review

Kenwood KFC-835C speakers reviewAgain, we just love Kenwood products. Kenwood has been one of the leading brands in this industry, so we wanted to show them some love! Really though, Kenwood makes great quality products, and their car speaker line is no exception.

Kenwood KFC-835C dash mount dual cone speakers are small enough to fit in most tight spaces. They have a sensitivity rating of 89 dB, and can handle around 20 watts of power on continuous basis. These 3.5 inch speakers are designed for dash and pillars applications, they really bring out the mids and highs, and they only cost about $30 on average! This pair is right on par with that pricing.

If I had to nitpick the KFC-835C speakers, I’d say that they have very little bass reponse, by hey : what do you expect from a 3.5 speaker?
